C2: Download Time!

collect and select, show me your best set

We'll be making a quick detour to the Gamebanana page for Persona 5 mods, since some mod files are required for the next step on the guide. Obviously, you're here to download Persona 5 EX and The Royal Project, plus other dependencies, but you can feel free to check for any other mods you may want to use!

Starting with Persona 5 EX, scroll to the bottom of the page and download these mods:

for the "or this one", choose one or the other, not both.

For The Royal Project, you'll want to download these:

make sure it says Base Mod
only one of these, not all three.

Next, we'll be needing some dependencies, download the Aemulus version of the P5R/P5D Font and Fix Softlock for Community Patches. Those two mods are required for both mods to work properly.

Finally, download the Aemulus Package Manager (if you haven't already) and the Persona 5 Base files for the next step.

Let's make a quick recap, at this point you should have:

If the numbers after <ps3_hardware_> don't match with yours, it probably means the patches got updated, so don't worry about that.

At this point, my recommendation is that you create a Loadout folder, to keep track of files that don't need any more modifications. There are a couple of files that you can start to move there, starting with:

  • Extract Events_05.7z (that contains Events_05.cpk) and P5RBustups_03.7z (that contains P5RBustups_03.cpk) into the Loadout folder. Move ExpandedBGM_02.cpk into the folder as well.

  • Put the p5ex folder found inside p5ex_prx_patch_ps3_hardware_1583e.7z\p5ex_prx_patch_ps3_hardware into the Loadout folder.

  • Open the TRP Aemulus package folder and open the folder called yml patches then hardware and then p5ex. Replace the mod.sprx file found in the p5ex folder with the one in The Royal Project Aemulus package folder inside it's own p5ex folder

If you want to, you could check the conf.yml inside the p5ex folder, since it has some options that you can toggle. Just make sure to be careful; don't leave a typo as that could make the game crash or not open at all. This is how your Loadout folder should look like right now:

If it looks like this, great! Move on to the next chapter.
