C0: Setting the stage
This guide was written by Proa with assistance from The TRP Team
Welcome to the P5EX + TRP Installation Guide for hardware users!
This guide ONLY applies to real hardware, you can find the installation guide for emulator here. Regardless of where you plan on modding the game, either PC or real hardware, the process remains largely the same. But some particular things like the placement of files, file patching and stuff like that, differs between both platforms.
So, with that out of the way, I'll be assuming you already have:
A computer.
An unmodified digital or physical copy of Persona 5, the PS3 version. You'll know your game is modified if there are duplicate/numbered CPK files in your USRDIR folder, or the PPU hash of your game doesn't match the game serial. (The FitGirl repack, for example, is known to cause issues)
A USB stick with enough storage for the files (NTFS works fine), an ethernet cable or just any way to transfer the files from your computer to the console.
A PS3 with either CFW (custom firmware) or HEN (hybrid firmware) installed.
In case you have yet to install CFW or HEN on your PS3, here are some guides to point you in the right direction:
If you have a FAT or SLIM model, you should install CFW; here's a written guide for CFW (and this is a video, in case you prefer videos).
If you have any SUPER SLIM model, you can only install HEN; here's a written guide for HEN (and a video, if that's what you prefer).
If you have everything mentioned above, you're good to go! Move on to the next chapter!
