Incompatible Mods

Mods that are incompatible with The Royal Project

This is a list of mods we have identified as incompatible or cause issues with The Royal Project. If you believe you have found an incompatible or problematic mod that is not on this list, please contact us on the discord server so we can look into it and add it.

Mods that are not incompatible but may cause issues for some users

If you are experiencing issues with any of the following mods, please make a support post on the discord server.

  • Royal VA Backport: This mod can be used with TRP, however some users have experienced minor issues using it with TRP. If you do experience issues while playing, try disabling Royal VA Backport.

  • E.P.I.C (Epic Partypanel In Color): This mod can be used with TRP, however some users on hardware have experienced crashes using it with TRP. If you do experience issues while playing, try disabling E.P.I.C.

Mods that are incompatible with TRP on both hardware and emulator

The following mods must be disabled at all times when using TRP:

  • Any mods incompatible with P5EX are also incompatible with The Royal Project.

  • Any mod that edits the BGM (Background Music)

  • Any mod that rebalances the game or changes it drastically (P5 Reimagined, Unmasked, Yaldabaoth's Call and Kabukicho Prison). This is due to conflicting files.

  • Language mods such as the Spanish patch, are incompatible. You may continue to use the Spanish patch with P5EX only, but not with TRP installed. A Spanish patch for TRP is not currently in development but is being considered.

  • Mod Menu: The original mod menu is incompatible, please use the one provided on the TRP GameBanana page instead. Refer to the official guide of your platform for installation instructions.

  • Confidant Follow Up Backport: All follow up events are already included in TRP.

  • Confidant Follow Up Backport Cheat Sheet (that's a mouthful): A separate version for TRP is in the works.

  • Free Time after Crosswords and Royal Crosswords: The content from these mods are already implemented in TRP.

  • Jazz Club Backport: The jazz club has been fully implemented in Kichijoji making this mod redundant when playing with TRP.

  • The vanilla Classroom Cheat Sheet: TRP adds Royal's classroom questions, so this cheat sheet won't work. A separate version for TRP is in the works.

  • HD2x High Resolution Textures: TRP ports fields from Royal with different texture names so you will have missing textures if you use this mod. It is also completely unsupported on hardware due to VRAM limitations.

  • Skill Cards duplication mods.

Mods that are incompatible with TRP on hardware only

  • All 4K mods. The game runs at 720p on hardware and does not have enough VRAM to load 4K assets. If you would like to use 4K mods, you need to play on emulator with the VRAM build made by Rexis.
